Meet the Band Members:

Left to Right: Will Vinton, Peter Krainock, Gary Fountaine, Philip Guttman
Will Vinton, Drums: While most people know Will has a filmmaker, animator, director, producer and even an author, he happens to be a hell of a drummer. Born in McMinnville, Will started drumming at the age of 12 and played in a host of Northwest rock groups such as ‘The Henchmen’, ‘Lord Jim and the Counts’. Will continued playing with S.F. Bay Area groups while at Berkeley during his college days. When he’s not playing with Freewill, he jams with a number of Portland Jazz and big bands including the Northwest Academy Big Band.
Peter Krainock, Guitar: Growing up in San Francisco during the 50’s and 60’s, Peter began playing guitar at the age of 12. Following a performance of the Butterfield Blues Band at the Fillmore in 1967, he became a blues devotee and played with a number of Bay Area based blues and jazz bands throughout the 70’s. After a number of well attended jam sessions in 2001, Peter & Will formed Freewill having concluded that there was room in the local music scene for an innovative band.
Gary Fountaine, Bass: Gary is a local Northwest bass player extraordinaire. Born and raised in the area, Gary has played with some of the best bands ever assembled in the region including Nu Shooz and Five Guys Named Moe.
Philip Guttman, Guitar & Harp plus Vocals: A Chicago native, Philip has been a fixture in the Portland Blues scene for the last 7 years. On any given evening, Philip might be seen jamming at Duff’s Garage or playing harp behind a local blues hero on an evening blues cruise. Philip brings a lot of style and history to his cool vocals.
